Justin Jolley

Having always been drawn to music from an early age I knew that my passion was in that field.  I was drawn to the bass after my mother purchased the Queen live at Wembley video.  John Deacon still to this day remains one of my main influences.  Through my school years I was always classed by other musos as a “nerd” simply because I played a lot of Jazz and can sight read.  As I started to grow out of that I joined a few bands and started playing the Melbourne pub circuit at the ripe age of 15 (with my dad as my roadie).  I was the bass player from Melbourne rock funk group “Igloo”.  We recorded a demo and played a residency in Melbourne where we had big numbers come to watch us play.  For some reason it just wasn’t right and we had to split (bit like being in a relationship)

After high school I decided to record on my own.  I had a lot of ideas under my belt and I just simply went into the studio and laid it all down.  The result was pretty much porno music (not that I’ve watched much).  Having my own EP business card I was able to get work with bands that could give me a reasonable income.  Having traveled overseas and around Australia with such acts I realized that the demographic I was playing to and the type of act (not band, but act) I was a part of didn’t give me a chance to define my own sound.

With my playing quickly starting to cripple I knew I had to be part of something that was “real”.  Word got out that I was available, Ben sent me an email, I met the guys and here I am.
